Password Manager Generates Rock-Solid Passwords
With identity theft an issue, and dozens of login passwords for different websites, it would be nice if someone would make things easier. How about just clicking one button and getting a strong, hard-to-crack password? Or, how about typing in your own password and seeing instantly how secure it is on the indicator? Sounds cool and it is, if you have Link Commander Pro that comes with a built-in password manager function.
Designed by Resort Lab to be used in the home or office, Link Commander Pro lets you easily bookmark your favorite web pages. Install the software and youre on your way to easy Web surfing from any computer in your home or office. This product comes in three editions: Lite, Standard and Pro. In addition to some extra features, Pro includes the password manager for generating and storing login passwords.
Once Link Commander Pro is installed, generating a strong, secure password is but a few clicks away. First, bookmark a webpage of interest to you that requires you to log in. Then click Properties of the bookmarked webpage from within the program, and click the Authorization tab. This is where the password manager sits. Now click on the Generate Random Password button to generate a password for a website. Click Generate and you get the password. The password is fairly usable out of the box but you may need to tweak some settings.
The password manager lets you adjust the parameters of the password. Some of the parameters you can adjust are password length, use of lowcase or UPPERCASE letters, digits and special symbols (!#$%&*). You can also set up a password mask. When all is set, you hit Generate and get the password tailored to your preferences. By default it is hidden behind asterisks, but you can reveal it by clicking on a special Hide/Show icon. Below the password there is an indicator showing the strength of the password that could be Weak, Medium, Strong, and Best. Once you get the password you need, you can copy it to clipboard.
The password manager also lets you check the strength of passwords you may have created on your own. You can do this with the same Authorization tab. Just type the password in the field and the program will instantly show its «strength» status. If it is weak, you can create a new random password using the Generate Random Password option as described above.
Another enormously useful feature of Link Commander Pro is that you can automatically fill in your login name and password to the login fields of a protected webpage. If you bookmarked a webpage and assigned a login name and password to it, Link Commander Pro will automatically open the bookmark in the browser, fill in the login information and open the protected resource without you doing anything.
The password manager is a fun feature in Link Commander Pro that is actually useful in that it completely automates password generation, stores passwords, and (if auto form filler option is enabled) fills them into login fields when you open the bookmarked page. This is ideal for users who have many login accounts and want to automate their entrance to secure websites.
